who we are

Boulder firefighters are ready to answer your call.

We believe that Boulder is a great place to work! With a beautiful backdrop of the Flatirons mountains, a wide assortment of recreational activities, a growing population, a variety of commerce, and The University of Colorado Buffaloes, the city is active and vibrant year-round.

Boulder firefighters are ready to meet the emergency needs within the city by operating out of 8 stations which includes 1 dedicated wildland station and 7 all-hazards response stations. Our members respond to approximately 12,000 calls per year providing fire hazard and emergency medical services to those who live, work, and enjoy time in the city all throughout the year.

What We Do

IAFF Local 900 exists to support our firefighters.

The Local 900 was formed in 1948 and is a local chapter of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF). Members of the Local 900 strive to provide service to the community of Boulder with professionalism and excellence. The union achieves this through collective bargaining with city management for exemplary compensation and labor practices for their members and places efforts on cultivating a culture in which all members are supported in performing their job duties effectively.

Whether you live, work, study in Boulder, or are visiting our city, Boulder firefighters are ready to answer your call should an emergency arise.  When you see us out and about, feel free to say, "hello!" It is our pleasure to serve this community, no matter the day, and no matter the time.  We are here for you.
